This Laser Straight item did indeed shoot a straight laser beam, BUT, it was neither level, or plum, when the level bubble was perfectly centered. In trying to hang a 5 foot painting perfectly level, when the bubble was absolutely centered in the glass tube, the laser line was a full inch lower on the right edge than it was on the left edge. Same thing happened on the vertical trying to make it plum. It was so far off, that it was obvious by just taking a quick look at it. It was completely useless, and I returned it. Do yourself a favor by not buying it in the first place, or you'll become completely frustrated that you have to return it. I gave it 1 star because they don't allow zero stars. The only plus side is that Amazon has such a great return policy.

Seems to work and Laser Beam seems to be straight. I paid a little more, but avoided those other sites which sell similar products; in which customers complain about crooked beam.

I bought this at a local Hardware store in the "cheap tool" section and paid $3.99. This is a great cat laser toy because it looks like a "tad-pole" when you play with it. As far as using it for a laser level; it will do okay for distances under 20 feet and not too much natural light shining through. However; i bought it for two reasons: 1) cat toy and 2) uses 2 "AAA" batteries.

this product is just great, should have gotten it a long time ago. A must have for any pro or do-it-yourselfer.
