 Better designed product than other similar tools Nov 03, 2010

If you need one of these gadgets, this is the one to get. After back surgery twisting is not allowed, so this little gadget saves the day. I purchased several of them, the first one was recommended when I was in rehab, but it did not work too well (Self-Wipe Bathroom Toilet Aid) . Then I decided to try this one, and it works so much better in several ways.
It grips the paper better the other one, the rubbery head (rather than smooth plastic) gives you a better wipe, it uses a lot less toilet paper, finally you never get your hands dirty because of how the ejection button works.
This is a simpler, cheaper option, that is engineered better!

I bought this wipe mechanism because of the shape. The curve seemed like it would be perfect for the way I need to use it and sure enough, the curve is exactly what I expected it to be. It's too bad the aparatus is a piece of junk though. It comes in a box with directions on how to use it which is what I was wondering when shopping for one of these. The green handle and head thing are both made of rubber. When you press the little plunger end, a lever pushes out of the middle of the head piece which theoretically would push out the wipe or toilet pater you poked secure in there. When I went to use it, the heel of my hand pressed against the plunger thing and snapped it the first day I had it. I can feel that there is some kind of spring in there that operates the the lever when you press but now it's broken and wont work. You can still get the toilet paper in there but to release it you would have to use your hands. A wipe won't stay on there unless you put toilet paper first and then put the wipe over it. It will theoretically all stick in there but you would still have to futz with it to get it off when you're through. Not conveneint.
The rubber is not sanitary. It seems to pick up dirt and hair the moment you remove it from the box if not before. The instructions say you can't immerse the rod in water or use it in the shower so you have to clean it with wipes. You will use up our wipes fairly quickly trying to maintain this rod. Also the rod is HUGE. You won't be able to carry this disgreetly around the office on your way to the loo. You will have to carry a very large purse bag with the rod hidden inside picking up lint as you go. Too big for a ziploc bag. It's almost as long as those swirler things you use to clean the toilet.

This is one of those products if you need it, Improving Lifestyles Comfort Long Reach Comfort Wipe,really helps. The product gives you independance for personal care. Very helpful with people who have bad backs
or trouble reaching, would recommend this product.

this product does not hold paper or wipes securly, this would make the use of this product uesless, if a wipe does manage to stay in, the release does work
