Easy to assemble, sturdy, fit smaller bath tub Mar 19, 2011
By PracticalWaysToSaveMoney Easy to assemble, fit perfectly in a smaller older narrow bathtub (from the 40s). Strong enough to hold a 300 lb person. It wobbled a bit if moved around a lot but held up fine at that weight, felt secure in use. Held up so well we were able to use it for several months while leg was broken then sold it to someone else "like new" when we were done with it.
Two things to keep in mind:
1. It was made so that you can't take the legs off once you put them on. Yes, you can adjust the height, but you cannot take the legs off completely. This is a design flaw, in my opinion. They should redesign so the legs can come off when not in use, so it can be collapsed and easily stored. With not being able to collapse it, it takes up a lot of room when not in use.
2. This is not what I call a true "transfer" chair. A true transfer chair has moving parts, so you can sit on one part and the seat would slide in. With this you can sit on the outside and scoot your butt in to the inside area (where the back of the chair is). If the person using it is very weak or has a broken arm, or if both legs are injured, they will need help scooting over.
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jul 14, 2011
By mainecooncat I bought this bench 3 1/2 years ago. Three weeks ago while taking a shower the right front leg came off. I didn't harm myself and I was lucky that I wasn't home alone because I needed assistance to get out of the tub. I have an old fashion porcelain tub with a slightly rounded bottom. I feel that is what created the bench to slide which caused the leg to buckle. It probably would work fine if the shower or tub has a flat surface or if the legs had a bolt through it to give the legs added stability. The legs are plastic and just push on and they snap into place.
