5Excellent Help!  Feb 10, 2010
Purchased this for my grandma as she has difficulty getting out of her car. Previously she would lay the seat all the way down so she could push off of it to get out. Now she is able to get out much easier and is so pleased with the handy bar.

4Great but pricey!  Feb 09, 2010
This handle works great. It is very solid, sturdy and does not scratch the door frame. After inserting it into the metal door loop, it's about 6 inches long. The diameter is about 1.25 inches wide with a non-slip coating. The underside portion that's used to cut a seatbelt is too narrow to catch even an infant's finger. I bought this handle because my grandmother (confined to a wheelchair) needs something extra to grab to get in/out of my Jeep. It helps her to stand and maintain her balance during the transition. She really, really likes it. Overall it's worth 5-stars except the price is too high. By the way, it's a handle - so it looks and works the same on both sides of the car.

5Simple gadget with awesome results  Feb 02, 2010
My mom who is 81 gets around with no problems with the exception of getting in and out of her car. Her comment is "I'm a young gal in an old ladies body". When she got out of the car she would have to rock herself a few times because she had nothing to grab on to on her left side except the outside of the back door. I bought her one of these and it has changed her life around. She got it at Christmas and she mentioned (again) just the other day on the phone of how much she uses it and how it helps her. I highly recommend it to anyone who may have knee problems or just struggle in any way getting in and out of your car. Great device and I thank whoever came up with it.

5A great little helper  Feb 01, 2010
This product does exactly what it is intended to do -- provide a rock solid handle that someone with limited strength and mobility can use to help raise themselves from a sitting position in the car to a standing position outside the car. Obviously, one must remember to remove the handle before trying to close the door, but other than that, it's very easy to use and easy to stow away until next time.

3Not so great as I thought  Jan 31, 2010
I opted for the Handybar with the added features of seat belt cutter and window breaker.
Thought having those attributes available in the car would be a good idea even if the grab design wasn't that great.

I drive a van and have major mobility problems due to spinal arthritis.
When I put the Handybar in the door hook on the driver's side, naturally, it was on my left. Since I am right-handed, it wasn't comfortable using my left hand for support as I pushed-off the driver's seat.

Not having tried it on the passenger side, I can't comment on its efficiency there.
Of course, if the driver is left-handed, it would be perfect.
However, I do think the length of the handle could be a little longer for better leverage.
