4Excellent, but be careful ordering two  Nov 30, 2010 By Simone
I ordered two of these to help my parents get out of bed. They work well and my parents are pleased with them. It has given my father peace of mind about falling out of bed. The product is well made and sturdy. One important feature that some other rails lack is the padding on the rail. I would not want my parents leaning on the bare metal to get out of bed. The metal gets cold and elderly people bruise easily.

The only problem that a potential purchaser needs to be aware of is that two rails will not fit on opposite sides of a queen-sized mattress. I had to put my father's at shoulder level and my mother's at waist level in order to use both of them. If this won't be an issue for you, then I highly recommend this product.

5Great help for my mom  May 02, 2010 By LRG
My mom is elderly, and often has trouble sitting upright from a lying down position in bed. This gives her something to hold onto and pull herself up, which is a great help. However, it's not so big that it's in the way of her getting in or out of bed, which is also great. All in all, both she and I are definitely pleased with the purchase. The installation instructions were not very detailed, but it wasn't that hard to figure out.

4Not designed for low beds, but still works  Aug 10, 2011 By Hadi Setiadi
I bought this for my dad who sleeps on a pretty low-legged bed (around 13 inches to the base of the mattress). I want to mention that the picture doesn't show that this product has supporting legs. Nor does it mention it in the product description or the height requirement for the bed. This product has supporting legs! Why should you be concerned about this? Because for our case, the legs are too high for his bed! By about an inch or two higher. The minimum leg height for this product is about 15 inches. The parallel bar that supposedly lay flat on the base of the bed is propped up higher than the base of the bed by the supporting legs lifting the mattress about that much higher next to this bar. I have even removed the adjustable legs which adds to the height-requirement of the bar even more if you have it on.

With the slowness of the processing time, not wanting to have to wait another 9 days for a replacement, I reluctantly try this product anyway by putting the mattress on top of it and lay on it. It does cause slight raise on the mattress but something that I and my dad can ignore. The parallel bars is quite sturdy as it doesn't seem to be bending when I try sleeping on it. I'm not sure if this kind of use is recommended or not.

The handle bar is pretty sturdy. It has a slight play on the handle when put on the highest setting but not too noticable. I wish the handle could be adjust to be a little higher though.

Overall, the product is pretty good. The only complaint was the height requirement for the bed that doesn't seem to be mentioned on the description (which I believe is pretty big deal for this type of bed rail) and the crop-legged product picture that is wrong.

5GREAT PRODUCT & IDEA  Jan 23, 2010 By john
Got this product for my sister who has a back problem. It was a life saver, she had trouble getting in and out of bed.
We do not know how she could of gotten out of bed without this product, it gave her independance. Also the height adjustability is another good feature.
This product makes it much safer for assisting in exiting and entering bed.
I highly recommend this product .Drive Medical Home Bed Assist Handle

3Product good, assembly instructions bad  Sep 27, 2011 By Del
Drive Medical Home Bed Assist Handle We think the product itself is excellent and helpful. Our beef has all to do with the instruction booklet that came with it. There were 12 instruction steps in the booklet. Two of the twelve had to do with a "strap and buckle" that are nowhere to be found. The manufacturer should either include the strap and buckle, or drop those two steps from the instructions, physically or enclose an errata sheet in the box with the product. We went through a hassle to try to get the strap and buckle, only to learn that they were not included intentionally, and apparently are unnecessary.
